Facilities / Infrastructure Details

Lying within 2 kilometers of the ITPL, The Deens Academy is situated on 3 acres of land. The campus of ‘brick- finished’ buildings, resplendent with courtyards and water bodies blend with the lush green surroundings replete with fruit trees and flowering plants – in itself a lesson on conservation of the environment. The following facilities are provided in the campus: – The academic building Classrooms are equipped with multimedia intranet computers and interactive educational software. All classrooms boast interactive ‘smart boards’ making learning exciting! The academic building also houses a dance room with ergonostic flooring, a state-of-art junior laboratory and art and craft rooms – Smart Board – ‘SMART’ APPROACH TO LEARNING The Deen’s Academy is the first school in Bangalore to invest in the effective teaching of its children by installing ‘smart boards’ in every classroom. Interactive whiteboards or ‘smart boards’ are phenomenal tools which provide ways to show students any thing which can be presented on a computer’s desktop. In addition, interactive whiteboards allow teachers to record their instruction and post the material for review by students at a later time. This can be a very effective instructional strategy for students who benefit from repetition, who need to see the material presented again, for students who are absent from school, for struggling learners, and for review for examinations. Impacts of interactive whiteboards on pedagogy: * Increased enjoyment and motivation * Greater opportunities for participation and collaboration * Improved personal and social skills * Less need for note-taking * Ability to cope with more complex concepts * Accommodation for different learning styles * Increased self-confidence – Laboratories Language and maths labs to facilitate easy comprehension and problem solving .Fully equipped science and social science labs for inquiry based hands-on learning. Computer labs for that extra edge in this techno-savvy world! – Swimming pool A 4 lane pool with adequate changing and locker room provision installed with filtration equipment which will ensure international health standards in water cleanliness. Attached is a baby pool so that the younger members of the Deens family don’t miss out on splashing around! – The Pantry (Refectory) The out sourced facility and dining area will serve the entire school staff and students. A child-friendly nutritious menu cooked under vigilant hygienic conditions is coordinated by a parent body constituted by the school management. Supervised meal time ensures elegant table etiquette! – Outdoor Sports Facility Basketball and tennis courts and a fully protected skating rink have been provided between the buildings. This apart, the school boasts a large playground which will serve as football and cricket field along with tracks for athletics. Indoors, children are guided into chess and caroms! – The Library (The Book Nook) The Book-Nook is our gateway to the world books and information- books, magazines, encyclopedias, audio-visual aids and internet facility contained within the calm ambience and spacious seating/ reading arrangements of the school’s library. – Infirmary A medically equipped infirmary manned by a full time nurse and an on-call doctor caters to any health related emergencies – Transportation Efficient and well-organised transport system is complemented by its wellchalked out bus routes and trained matrons on board. The buses are also speed limiter enabled through a GPS to ensure the safety of the children on board.

While looking at other options in and around whitefield, I am confused. Thinking of Brigade at this point. What was your shortlist?

  6. A disillusioned parent says:

This school (Deen’s Academy) has a severe lack of discipline. Many of the students are from wealthy families – aka, pampered brats. My son was beat up many times. Complaints ended up with the brats getting “talks”. After several complaints to the teachers and the Principal, I’ve given up and taken my son out of this school this year.
Incidentally, when we started looking at other schools, my son had to take entrance exams. While he aced the Deen’s Academy test two years ago, we found that he really struggled with other schools’ exams this year. I’ve compared curricula and was surprised at the level of academic excellence at other places. [Reputation, I guess, is a marketable product.]
For these two reasons, I think it was a good idea to join him elsewhere.

No offence but it seems Leena is quite happy with the school. Its a individual choice hence everyone is free for their feedback and every other individual has got brains to think and decide. Please do not say negative comments are not right. There must be some truth.

I also had a bad experience with school and decided not to go ahead with school for my kid even one of the trusties is a close friend of mine.

In my opinion people will never speak bad till the kid is in school as it will spoil the parents reputation in society. Also none of the school is best hence parents please check yourself and decide what is best for your kid.

Wow…after reading the good reviews of Deens academy on many websites I strongly feel that they are fake. They are too similar to be true.Looks like the person who was given the job of writing and posting them was not creative enough :) so at this moment I have totally dropped the idea of Deens for my kid..Ok it’s a competitive world, and Deens has every right to promote itself…but can I send my child to a school which uses such unethical and moreover silly means of promotion !! :) Sorry, NO.

    Zero value for money…

There is absoltely no quality education imparted to the students.

I removed my kid after 1 year in the school. Following are the areas where I found problems:-
    - There is no discipline imparted to the kids. Infact I would say there is no control on the kids. A classic example is one should go on the “Observation Day for parents”. For 5th class a child was drawing cartoons while the teacher was explaining a lesson with the teacher having no control on the kids.
    - There is a total bias towards “Malayalees”. If you are a Malayalee, you are the privileged one on the school and you don’t have to suck up the principal. Any malayalee kid even a 1st grader will have the guts to say I’ll speak to principal in my native language and you’ll not understand a word.
    - No sympathy is shown to children when they are hurt. We were not even informed when our child was seriously hurt under the eye when he fell in the basketball court.
    - One Hindi teacher uses abusive language with kids and is encouraged. Mails sent by parents to the principal regarding the same are communicated to the teacher who ultimately holds grudge against the child which shows immaturity on part of the teachers.
    - Many of the good teachers have already left and if you try to dig into the qualification of the teachers it would be baffling to know their background like a class teacher is from banking background.
    - Infact the class teacher was totally biased towards a few kids irrationally. Nor is any logic/articulation shown to solve a problem.
    - All the teachers are overworked since the school does not use any education content system like educomp. Many are mentally unhappy. How the hell will they motivate the kids…? Where does all the high money they charge go…?
    - The whole extracurricular scenario is an eye wash. There is absolutely nothing that they learn in swimming or skating since the instructor takes extra classes outside school and recommends the kids to come over there

My advice is stay away if you can as “All that Glitters is not Gold”.

The teachers are very rude except for some. And i am sure ur child loves to play but most of the time it’s no games. And even if ur child has a game period on a certain day it gets cancelled by some stupid event. It’s not WORTH IT parents there r better schools in Bengaluru

Stay away from deens if you have not taken admission , in case you are an unfortunate one like me whose kid is small and cant change schools so often , sorry for you as well, Deens is going to rob you and the principal is going to give you justification that she is making building and since you joined after 2010 you eed to pay royality to her. Not a great school as well but then even if it is in your neighborhood better still start looking for a different school around in vicinity. this is not exceptional school but an average one , but you end up paying too much for what you get there

    [Reply]

  25. Rajeev says:

The school is average and not that great. Management is verymuch money minded, they spend lots of money on advertising that is why you will see their name figuring out on the first page of google search. Once you are in they will take you for a ride , My fees has been increased by 23% this year and when all the parents went protesting they just said leave it or take it , they dont care. Lots of parents are looking at alternatives now but lack of schools in the whitefield are is giving deens a free hand to rob people.

Our kid is in playgroup at deens. We took admission in the academic year 2010-11. Since there was much hype created for this school that seeing other parents we too decided to go forward for deens for our kid. Our kid name was at the waiting list and we had to do follow-ups to finally get a seat for him. But i fail to understand what different teaching methodology they are imparting to the children of the school. How will they differenciate themselves with other schools?? What is their USP?

For the same class, the fee structure for the kids is not the same. You will find one kid studying at 50k, another one at 55k and the next one would be at 75k and so on. When asked by the Principal, she has a very ridiculous answer. The fee structure depends on the kids’ year of joining. But why there is a fee differenciation, when they are imparting same education to every kid. They are simply building money. What’s the use of projector with a smart board and broadband facility at pre primary level??? Well, that’s just marketing tactics. Except for running rhymes on youtube, this smart board with a projector has no other work at the pre primary level. Infact, few pre- primary teachers are montessori untrained/ inexperienced and they charge fees at par with NPS.

For the academic year 2010-11, the fee structure for our kid was 50k anually and 25k was the admission fee( one time). For 2011-12, they have exorbitantly increased the fees to 82k anually. This high amount is not worth enough for this school. I dont find anything great about this school that i pay 82k. Believe me, there is nothing special that we parents are running for this school. Its HYPE created with exhorbitant fees. Yes, we parents are responsible for this. We have created this hype. We can look forward to other schools at whitefield like DPS who are charging half the fees and would be maintaining their standards.

I have to post this to let everyone know the most horrid experience I had at Deens today.
For last 1 week we all knew that Deens is starting with application forms for 2011 on 9th Oct. People had queued up since 5 in the morning!! And at 9:30am to a crowd of waiting parents (with kids) they announce that due to some ‘unavoidable circumstances’ they will not be able to give the forms today (what?.. thats how many reacted to the mismanagement)!
They expected us to fill up a 1 page (name, phone, address) and submit the same, so they can send an application form at our residence. And what happened to the ‘first come first serve’ policy?

They had no clue how to manage the rage of parents esp. waiting since early hours… It was anger, confusion, amusement all at one place, a sight to be ashamed of.
For all the good things I had heard about Deens and the keenness I had for my child to get admitted, not sure how far I can convince myself that this was a one-off. (I realy hope it was)
I’m sure some other parents might want to comment on this bizzare mismanagement by the school authorities.
    Thanks.

My kid has just started going to deens academy (called kideens). I heared of all good about this school, hope it will continue like this.

One should be prepared for being humiliated by the prinicipal if you have not done something as per their instruction. Remember instructions are sent only on email, not put on notice borad. If your mailbox is full or if due to any reason you have not checked you mail, be ready to hear some bad words from the principal. Actually they do not know how to talk to parents or with anyone in general.

Deficiency in administration came out on very first day of school. As they have not printed the ID card for students. Please note you pay Rs. 100 for parent ID card, that you will get before school starts. But no ID card printed for student. Again prinicipal was firing on every parents who have not tagged their kids themself, How parents will come to know that they have to prepare their kid’s ID card themself? Do not forget this much chaos even after paying 75000.

I would not mind getting humiliated by principal, as long as they impart good education.

Put your kid here, if you do not mind giving extra money, and still expect less. I do not mind extra money for kid education, but expect more.

This is my personal experiance, I know many other parents would have observed this

Which part of Whitefield are you living in? Do you have suggestions for private school van pick-up/drop facility?

The sports team, their arts& crafts team and the rest of the faculty pitched in for the props.. they were all excellent ! the day was split into two days, so it reduced the fatigue.. the two days were fun filled days with children enjoying the competition ! they had made good arrangement, the teachers were there early in the morning to welcome the parents and seat them comfortable, had arrangements for vendors to put up stalls for lunch… overall it was time worth spent !! happy our kid is growing up with Deens !!

I have been to the school and was not impressed with the infrastructure. There is a muddy ground, half the size of a regular football/hockey ground. There is no auditorium or multi purpose hall and the so-called ‘skating rink’ is a shame compared to international standards… There is a huge music / dance room at the basement, which is mostly under-utilised with few equipments. On a rainy day, the car park for parents is slushy, hence the narrow road is full of cars. Also, I wish to have a feedback on any religious bias in the school, for ex, in the prayer, in the celeberation of different Hindu festivals, in the teaching of yoga and meditation, etc.
The classrooms are all equipped with PC’s and projectors, but pray, why are they charging a bomb for delivering the curriculum through this means? Customised and CBSE specific academic content is available on the Web at a cost of less than Rs 150 per student per month.

Academically is also the standard is high and I can see the difference. My first child’s confidence level has gone vry high and she is encouraged so well in all aspects . For my first child , this is the third school and I’m very clear that both of them will be with Deens till their 12th grade. The prinicipal and vice-prinicipal are very friendly and very easy to approach.

The teachers too are qualified and their method of teaching is unique. Looks like the teachers are given some training (Deens style of teaching) before they join the school. They have every process in place and they have a blog for parents too.

    Hi,

Can anyone please tell me which is the best option mentioned below for my daughter’s admission. Currently she is going to play group I in Appollo National public school in Banashankri III Stage.
As we are moving to whitefeild, please suggest:
    1) Vibgyor
    2) Deen’s Academy
Would appreciate, if you can suggest other options.

    Thanks

For younger kids, I would recommend Deens. However, since I do not know much about Vibgyor, can’t comment on same.

Pretty well! I think Deens should be scoring well above others in terms of care of children.

My son goes to this school. He has been there since the day the school started. The strength of the school is in its faculty, very knowledgeable and innovative techniques of learning. The management is also very good. They have a very constructive approach to solving issues also, this is very helpful. The key part is that children are developing a good character!
