1Hi Vijay - I am based in US currently and planning to move to Bangalore and enroll my kids at Treamis. Did you finally enroll your kids at Treamis? How is your experience there? I have read and heard its mostly NRI kids at the school .. so how is the academic performance of the school .. are your kids in the CBSE curricullum or the IGSCE ? Which one do you recommend?

I am happy to inform that both my kids are in Treamis. They will be completing a year soon and the experience so far has been very good. Compared to most International schools, they are the best. Right from the security guard at the entrance to the Director of school everybody is very friendly, courteous and approachable. Moreover, they invited a few parents to solicit feedback and what’s more - they implemented some of the changes and for those that they couldn’t, they explained patiently as to why they cannot. No half-baked assurances. They are starting a PTO/PTA next year. My kids were missing their US school and friends a lot initially, but now they appear to be very happy and settled. The branch out of CBSE/IGCSE will take place at 9th grade. My kids are still in 1st and 7th grade. But almost all kids that we saw/met studying in High school are in IGCSE.
Good luck!!

4Treamis does not conduct entrance exam to accept or reject the application. It conducts an assessment of the prospective student to understand the maturity level of the student and places the student in the appropriate grade and the section depending on the assessment.
The school prefers to meet with the parents and students before accepting the student. However, for parents and students residing outside of Bangalore, the school conducts telephone interviews. The admissions page of Treamis website http://www.treamis.org has an online enrollment form. Parents living outside of India can fill this form and specify the date and time they will be available for phone interview. Once the school confirms the time, the parent and student can talk to the Principal or the Vice Principal. Depending on the outcome of the interview, the parent will receive admissions acceptance letter. The steps to be taken after the acceptance is clearly mentioned in a separate section of the admissions page http://www.treamis.org/admissions.html.

6Hi, I am interested in the Treamis World school for my 5 year old twin kids. We recently moved from UK and I am quite pleased to see the emphasis to academics as well as co-curricular activities. However, I would also like my kids to be down to earth and not carry an attitude. Since the school has many NRI kids and kids that come from good money background, can anybody tell me if there is peer pressure or attitude issues? Not meant to hurt anybody’s feeling.

7Hi All,
Wonderful forum I can see.
It is a very difficult decision, to chose the right school for your kids.
I would like to know if anyone sends their kids here, and if they are happy with it or not.
With what I learn from the discussion, lots of ‘yes’ votes to this school isnt it.
How are the teacers? How is the culture for kids?
And how are the results of the top grades, when considered in competition to other good schools in Bangalore.
Kindly revert back, or mail me if there is any specific thing I should know.
I am considering this school to put my son in Kindergarten.
Thanks

11While I like the flexibility offered by the IGCSE curriculum, one problem I perceive is that IGCSE academic calendar and examination schedule is not in sync with the mainstream Indian academic schedule. For example, in the mainstream Indian academic schedule, board exams get over by March/April and parts of April and May happen to be vacation times. As a result, some activities like Olympiad camps etc. often get scheduled during the month of May. But, as far as I know, in IGCSE curriculum, the exams take place in May/June creating a schedule conflict.

14Mr. Bala
I live in the US and send my kids to school here…. They were taught to spell the same way you described the teaching in Treamis. I think it is the same way in any other country including the UK. The word ‘tortoises’ may be too long a word for first graders… Rarely do first graders here learn 8 or 9 letter words. The Treamis standard sounds higher… maybe too high.

15Based on the reviews made in this form, I visited 3 international schools in Bangalore for my daughter’s admission. The first two schools (near Sarjapur) made me wait for 45 minutes to an hour and then packed me off within 15 minutes without answering my tough questions. The simply told me that I will receive all the information before the academic year starts.
My experience at Treamis has been different. I have worked as a substitute teacher in the US in many schools but had never seen the detailed curriculum that Treamis has in any of the schools in the US and for that matter… other schools in Bangalore that I visited. Though I had registered the child from the US and was asked to pay NRI fee (which is twice the resident Indian fee), I was able to convince the director that I have returned to India for good. They let me pay the resident Indian fee without much discussion. What impressed me most was the courtesy shown by the staff… from admissions officer to the principal and the director. They were very patient and answered all my questions. This was really a pleasant surprise after my bad experience with the other two schools. I have now admitted my daughter at Treamis. Amala and other parents here…. will look for you at PTA meeting.

16My experience with Treamis not good or worst. The fees are not fixed. I paid over 1 lakh (with 50% discount) and some else paid 25000 (without discount) for the same class. If you are planing to put your child in try to bargain the fees as much you can. They never put the fees in public and the fees were halfed for 2009-2010 comparing with year 2008-2009.
Their syllabus is not consistent with class teaching method. The curriculum may impress many of us as it is more closed with Western Style system but in reality it is not. My Class 1 child was asked to memorise spelling of “tortoises” at week two and got scold when he forgotten it. They never gave me the study plan/syllabus despite of asking many time directly to Curriculum co-ordinate Mrs Bhuvana. The school was run without a Principal for a year.
We moved from UK and my child did not like the school at all.

19Hi,
I will be moving from US to Bangalore shortly. I am planning to enroll my kids (7th and Kindergarten) in TREAMIS. It appears that the webpage with fees information is not working (or it has been taken out). Can somebody please share the fees structure there for Day school? Also, are there bus services to Bannerghatta Road (close to Meenakshi Temple)? How long does it take? Do they offer Kannada as one of the 2nd and 3rd languages? Appreciate a quick reponse.
Thanks

21Dear All
Treamis World School offers a choice between the CBSE and the IGCSE as the culminating Grade 10 examination. The CBSE is an examination that offers a syllabus of 5 subjects that cover a broad spectrum of General studeies under the heads
of English/ Second language/ Science/Social Studies and Mathematics.
The CBSE syllabus is tuned to most of the entrance exams conducted for entry into college after Grade XII. The children do not have much in terms of choice of subjects at this level of Grade X.
Conversely, the IGCSE offeres a wide range of subects to be chosen from right at the entry to Grade IX. Also there is a choice to take a subject at two different levels based on the aptitudes of the student. Also, the approach is based on application and logical skills being enhanced rather than on just content. This system of examination does not promote rote learning but a clear understanding of concepts is a must. This enables the children to deal with a multitude of subject related problems and deduce suitable conclusions.
On completion of the IGCSE, the student has both the options of studying in India and abroad.
The IGCSE is well recognised by Indian colleges and universities and admission is granted on te basis of the forecast grades. I personally have a lot of students who have passed their IGCE and joined Junior colleges in India or completed their GCE ‘A’ Levels and joined professional colleges.
Thanks

23Hi Amala,
Thanks for your prompt reply ! IGCSE is a Uk based syllabus isn’t it? what is the advantage of IGCSE over CBSE ? I have heard that IGCSE is useful for children who would study abroad after their 12th ie AS or A level exams, where in they can go to UK university directly. so you have planned for an UK universtiy for your daughter ahead eh ? how about the children who cannot afford for UK universtiy after their AS and A level exams ? Please put some light on this one ! This would be a very valid information for many parents .
Thanks in Advance

26My husband visited lot of schools and finally we choose Treamis for the following reasons.
1. Treamis has got a wonderful management. They are very social and helpful. They give individual attention to each kids. They respond to your needs very quickly. I am very much impressed by that.
2. It offers CBSE along with IGCSE.
3. Treamis philosophy is environment is very much in line with the schools in the USA. It will be easy for my children to adjust to the Treamis system
4. We liked the campus – the art center, music and dance studios. My children fell in love with the school the first time they have seen it.
5. Treamis has this option of weekly boarding. The hostel facility is just amazing. My daughter Shruthi Praveen who is 8th grade now is very happy with the school. She enjoys hostel so much.
6. My mother in law is so traditional but even she liked the school at the first sight itself. She told me Amala don’t worry about child she will be safe. They are fully secured like home. This made me to put her in school without any hesitation.
All the best.
