3Itotally agree with Shirley. The standard of Ryan International has gone down tremendously. My daughter who is studying in std ninth has no time for anything. And being a working mother I find it very difficult to sit with and help her with her studies. She has school on saturdays too and by the time she reaches home it is almost three in the afternoon. She has lunch and leaves for her maths tutions. Even on Sundays we have to sit with the other subjects as it is not possible on week days.I have yet to come across an International school like this.I hope more parents come out with their views and put it in this column. All this while I thought that I was the only parent facing a problem but after reading this column, I understamnd that there may be many more parents who would like to express their views.

4Hi
Could any one of you provide me feedback about Gopalan school.
I am planning to admit my daughter in Play school 1 this year.Thought i would get some feedback before i decide on.
1) Wanted to know student teacher ratio
2) Do you see any good progress in your kids studies.
3) Is Bus facility good enough and is there any teacher escort who monitors kids in the bus and ensures the kids get down in the right stop
4) Is there a daily/weekly progress report on childs behaviour, studies and areas of improvement?
Iam sorry to ask too many questions but wanted to know in what way they are different from other schools and paying 40K should be worth enough.
Thanks

9Folks - There is no school that is secular 100%… I dont need to state the obvious… Take examples of schools run by other groups (non christians).. they obviously have Hindu prayers or Sanscrit scripts that the non hindu community would never understand… Someone in their feedback called Ryan prayer song sound like Jihadi not sure what he would call these Hindu Prayers or Sanscrit scripts. I think if someone is so particular that his or her children must not utter prayers based out of other religion then they should find the approapriate school rather complaining!

Actually the starting age for Mont II is 3 and 1/2 years. You may discuss personally with admission supervisor there. Most probably they will take your daughter in Mont I only.
All the best - Reena.

14Hi,
This is quite an interesting site for parents :). My son is studying in 1st Std at Ryan, Marathalli.
Personally, i dont see much problem in Ryan. As mentioned by couple of parents above, my son never creates issue for going to school. In fact he will be more worried if i say you will not goto school today.
I can see that teachers are overloaded here and do not have good time to spend with each student. Mr Prashant needs to look at Quality of teachers that they are hiring. But if you are constantly monitoring your kids activities and also teacher. If you find teacher is not suitable and of not good quality, you can discuss and change your son to other section or sometimes change teacher also. This happened this year, when my son’s first teacher was very bad and couple of parents spoke to head mistress who replaced with a new teacher. There are no complaints now.
One more thing we as parents need to build up good relationship with teachers also so that they can concentrate on our kids. You may call it politics or no-ethical, but that will work well.
Overall i found its ‘not a bad’ school when compared with transport facilities, fee structure and quality of education compared to other schools.

Can you give me principal’s direct number so that we can get an appointment? It is pathetic that we have to literally plead with the front office and Principal’s secy for an appointment.

23As per my suggestion, before writing comments good or bad does’nt matter , just go to other school and see…
All schools has some issues No One single school is such type which has no issue….
So try to find out better school. Personally i have gone to DPS,Ryan,NPS etc…But what i feel I should put my son into Ryan International School. This school has medium fees and excellence in education.
I request to all parent dont expect everthing from school please give some of your time to your son also at home.
What’s about school songs Can you tell me a single school where no crestanity. Dont tell anything like it’s problem..If you have power tell change the system …
Leave it i will talk about school in bangalore which makes your kid better attitude, Excellence knowledge, problem solving skills etc….
1. Bishop cotton: It’s number one school but problem is that it’s taking admission from 4 years
But who will take risk to wait for this age If you can then go for this school.
2. Ryan: It’s excellent school starting from Montessory. No risk …Excellent education…Excellent bus service….But still should have some issues…

26Hi,
My son goes to Ryan International School, Yelahanka - he is in Mont II. We are quite happy with the school. Our calls or diary notes have always been answered respectfully. Bus service is excellent, conductor is quite helpful School is not so crowded and having a good ambience and facilities. They have extra curricular activities like swimming, musical band, sports etc. Our son feels happy to go to school everyday. They keep meeting parents time to time to discuss about their child’s progress. In the smaller classes, teachers not only focus on studies but also take care that the child is eating his tiffin regularly which is I think a very important aspect.
One good and interesting part of the school is not for kids, but for parents also they keep some activities/ competitions which are lacking in most of the other schools.

28Hi,
One thing which I am not sure why Ryan is not doing is leveraging the strength of IT to ease parents, new admission seeker, transport people and many other stakeholders. One simplest possible thing that they can do is to start an E-commerce portal (or tie up with some service provide) to accept school fee on the net by using credit card etc….Every quarter God knows so many parents face long payment queues amid their work pressure etc.
I personally have given this feedback many times but as of now, no result !!!
I am certainly seeing lot of good things happening in Ryan school in Marathahalli especially the way my son is expressing his interest to go to school daily, new activities and curriculum and most importantly - new revamped visitor parking lot which used to be mess sometime back, it is in a much better shape.
Thank You Mr Prashant…Hope new initiatives will continue to pour in from your side to make Ryan, Brookfield a much better for kids, parents and everyone.
Hope you look into (and do something serious about) quarterly payment frustration of parents !!!!

29I was surprised to find a forum like this and with sufficient views on schools particularly Ryan Intl. School. Actually most of what is written above is true.
1. The school is essentially a great business organisation of Mr.Pinto. Not only has he managed to create around 100 such schools but runs them (atleast based on the Kundanahalli school) business like.
2. Business like - Positives include fantastic bus system. Infact if their bus system is stopped, I can bet that the school will fold up in a month! Other positives are easy admission, atleast in those days I was not interviewed as a parent and I appreciate it. Also the school is pretty systematic in most activities.
3. Business like - Negatives include almost no concern for individuals beyond the level of the class teacher. I happened to meet the previous principal Cynthia not because I chose to, but because she was aghast at a note of complaint about the school that I had written. Well in a school where a class strength is like that of a typical school strength (typical std 3 for example must be having 600 children…so this is a management activity la. company…not a typical school!).
4. The best part of the school as one parent said above, is the children enjoy going to school. There can be nothing more positive than that. Have you seen children cry because they missed the school bus and force their parents to drop them in school some 15 kms away! I aint stating it just based on my child but also on other children.
5. Certainly the school at the face of it does not sound secular. After many years at this school I just browsed their school anthem and it refers specifically to Christianity (a reason I started browsing for sites like this!). Ofcourse I bet most children dont sing it along, rather are busy chating during school assembly. And well as we Indian Hindus see it, just vomitting words like Jesus does not make one get converted. Ofcourse the intention of the school to promote Christianity is even more disdainfully mentioned when my child states that in a recent Singing competition ones who were given prices were without fail Christians. Now one must remember. Most Indian Christians tend to believe in converting everything to Christianity, as “they know not what they are doing”.
6. However over the many years my child has studied here, I dont find that any serious effort, even some effort has been made to push Christianity into the children. Just that maybe Pinto is not secular mentally, though I dont know if he cares about Christianity beyond mentioning Jesus and Amen! That was clear during his speech at what this school calls as Montessori Graduation (an event that beats IIT convocaton!!). So if you are too fussy about religion then you may not want your child here, but other than such a tendency which exists with most so called “devout Christians” of talking Christ with everything, this school is almost a NON DIRECTIONAL SCHOOL in every respect.
7. To highlight NON DIRECTIONAL. I dont think any child in this school builds high interest or disinterest. This is typically useful in an ever changing society. I would treat this as a positive and infact appreciate that children dont try to beat one another in studies or sports beyond a point. That is actually very positive about this school.
8. Cynthia the original principal has left last year all of a sudden. The rumour mill seems to say she was lenient. Actually that (lenience) was probably as a Parent the most positive aspect of this school. I would love my child to enjoy school and acquire abilities, not stand in attention and keep learning by rote. The new principal Prashanth seems to state everyday about discipline. However from what I realise he has no locus standi on discipline and probably he has to atleast ACT STRICT given that Ryan kids are mostly pampered brats from well to do homes. Infact Hegde told me (the only official I cared to meet before admitting my way back!) that the school admits Crorepathis children to Poor kids. Actually that is reasonably factual but overall in current lifestyle brat packs cause more nonsense than they deserve to. So acting strict cant be too bad!
9. As for quality of teachers. Until standard 4, I suspect the teachers do seem to show some interest. Higher class teachers are probably the wrong pack in this school. Again what has been written above, about teachers moving away from the school is true. Now personally I dont think my child will become smart just by a BUNCH OF TEACHERS. So as long as the teachers dont move my child radically one way or other, my child will do well.
10. Finally as for English and spelling. That has been uniformly atrocious for the past many years. There is lot to complain about the quality of English in circulars. One particular teacher, has no idea about what ENGLISH is. She used to ask for example “which island is the bay of bengal” while she was actually trying to ask “name islands in the bay of bengal”. Well one teacher had to be re-educated that a number divided by zero does not result in zero (but as infinity). Another montessori teacher believed in only handling less intelligent children and did not like my child answer everything at the drop of the hat.
In summary, I will yet have my child study here. Bus pickup, non pushy environment, well managed system being the positive reasons. The quality of English is the worst negative in my view given it is an ICSE school and in ICSE English is the most important subject and the best a child receives out of ICSE is English, as compared to CBSE where English is a subsidiary or State board where in 10th one studies what is class 4 book in ICSE.
One advice to this school. Try to become more secular and get teachers who can read write and talk good English. That does not mean you can ever lower your transport system or free environment (Mr. Prashant, I hope you are listening!).

30We have an apartment near the Sai Baba Ashram, White field, Bangalore and we need to identify a good school for our son who is turning 4 in May 2009.
We have looked around and identified inventure Academy as one of the places, as Prof. Sadagopan was at IIMB when husband was a student there.
Can you suggest other good schools nearer to our home, please? Or are we better off finding a rented accomodation somewhere else in the city?

35Dear Sir/Madam/All,
Nothing special about this school. Only the fee structure is very high since the name is an international school. The faculties are not up to the mark. I find many spelling mistakes not corrected even the books are taken for correction and returned back. 2-3 class teachers and subject teachers will be changed in one academic year.
Extra curricular activities not conducted regularly Eg: Dance, Music, Art & Craft etc.
One special thing about this school is they never conduct ” School Day function” as other schools conduct. I have enquired regarding this, but no reply.
Sorry to tell this.

Please never ever think of this school, I made a mistake moving my daughter from good school to Ryan Inter - Yelahanka .
We cant call it as a school ,it is one money making Jihadi school, No teachers , no quality , today there is no principal also.
They are behind converting children to some hard core christians. and defnetly not teaching.
planned way of brianwashing children to fallow there jumping dancing christianity ( I dont what they are called )
please please NO NO RYAN INTERNATIONAL PLZZ. I think our education department should close this school immidiatly.

40Dear all
My son is studying in Ryan from Mont 1 and he is in 5th std now, but as of today he has not improved either his spellings or his reading or his handwriting, we both are working and the little time we spend with him in his studies we will only end up correcting his spellings and sentence in his notebooks rather than teaching him and preparing him for the test. I only want to know when will teachers takes responbility or initiative atleast to make sure student completes his notes, writes neatly and improves his handwriting, if not making sure whether the student understood the lesson or not, that we will take care. When we discussed this with the teacher, she was telling that they have been given 15 sections and ~600 students under their responsibility and so it is very diffcult for them to give attention to individual student , they are absolutely right, I understand that is the reason teacher’s attirition is really high in this school, so I request the Pirncipal / Management to take this matter seriously and do something about it……. Thanks.

43Dear Sir/Madam
I am sorry to give this feedback through this page. But no other way to reach school officials like eithe phone or email. Phone nobody is answering.
My message or complaint to RYAN official( Either Mr. Hegde or Transpoer manager) is in Bus No 32 ther is no place . My child gets in at last stop, he has no place some time. This has been complained many times. From 18.2.2008 to 27.2.2008 (Today) also my son is adjusting as third person in two seater.
You may ask “so what?” or ” what is the problem?”
Sorrey dear sir/madam, early moening child will in the bus stop at 7.15 am with his school bag, tiffin bag and most of the time even project work /piano. Please tell how child will manage if there no place to sit or if conducter in the bus is not cooperative?
Instead of doing socia; service some where, let things start from your own house. I mean please make sure your childrens reach safely or at least can sit one child in his seat.

46Ryan may be ordinary school. Fees seems to be normal around 19K for whole year. Admission fees around 50-60K. Teacher attrition may be high, then that is true in all jobs in India right now. In last 3-4 years of my son at Ryan, I never saw his class teacher changing. Now he is taught by more than one teacher in class 3. Probably then too I never saw any teacher leaving job in between. Hope to remain same.
I think teacher attrition is common in all schools, as now a days it is no more a preferred job like one generation back. Some educated boys / girl tend to become teacher to pass time but later give due to not much monetory gains.
In indirangr to whitefield corridor, I could not come across any reasonable CBSE school, which has some facilities and first-come-first serve admissions.
It may be good or bad school, but definitely it is very convenient school and bus system, other facilities are reasonable.

47Looking for a good liberal school in ORR/sarjapur area . Decided to reject Ryan school after reading its school anthem that is as bad anything can be for a jehadi school. The school promotes niether secular nor Indian values. Decide if you would like your son/daughter to sing this daily (assuming you are not a bible-thumping christian).

Cheer the Blue and Gold
Hail to thee, O King Jesus

We will ever be true

True and pure and steadfast.
Chorus: Let’s put on the armour light
Glory of King Jesus
Let’s put on the armour light
